serving a roll from a pan of chicken crescent rolls.

If a no-fuss weeknight dinner is what you're looking for, you've found it! These chicken crescent rolls and gravy use just four ingredients and take only 10 minutes of prep time to toss together! You only need diced chicken, chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, and a package of crescent rolls to whip together this ultimate comfort food.

To make dinner time even easier, I like to use leftover chicken from these baked chicken thighs that I made earlier that week or have frozen, but you can use rotisserie chicken, canned chicken, or bake it yourself the day of.

With buttery crescent rolls wrapped around tender bites of chicken, all covered in savory chicken gravy, you really can't go wrong! Next time you need a last-minute meal that will make everyone around the dinner table happy, add this chicken crescent roll recipe to the menu and watch them disappear. Pair them with these skillet fried potatoes, this broccoli rice casserole, or with a cup of this hearty potato corn chowder!

    Why This Recipe Works

    1. With only 4 ingredients, you can keep these ingredients on hand for a simple last-minute weeknight dinner that can be made anytime!

    2. Never let leftover chicken go to waste again! This recipe is a great way to make an entirely new meal out of leftover baked chicken or rotisserie chicken.

    3. These chicken crescent rolls take just 10 minutes of prep time and are ready in only 40 minutes!

    🛒 Ingredients You'll Need

Ingredients needed to make chicken crescent rolls: cream of chicken soup, chicken, chicken broth, and a package of crescent rolls.
    • Chicken - use breasts or thighs. It's a delicious, lean protein source that helps make this dinner a one-pan meal!
    • Crescent rolls - I like to use Pillsbury crescent rolls, but any brand will work! The buttery, tender texture of the crescent rolls is perfect for this recipe.
    • Cream of chicken soup - Adds a thick and creamy chicken flavor to the gravy.
    • Chicken broth - Helps to thin out the cream of chicken soup without diluting the flavor.

Be sure to see the recipe card below for the full ingredients list & instructions!

    📋 Variations

    • Feel free to substitute the diced cooked chicken with rotisserie chicken, canned chicken, or leftover chicken breast or thighs.
    • For extra creaminess and flavor, add up to ¼ cup of softened cream cheese or shredded cheddar cheese to the gravy.
    • To make this a whole balanced meal in one, add veggies to the mix! You can add a cup of frozen broccoli to the gravy before baking or add a half cup of cooked diced onions and peppers to the chicken before rolling everything up in the crescent rolls.

    🔪 Step-By-Step Recipe Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare the crescent rolls by dividing the dough into 8 pieces. Put them on a large cookie sheet or a flat and clean surface so you have an area to work. From there, put an equal amount of cooked chicken in the center of each roll.

    🙋🏼‍♀️ Recipe FAQs

How do you know when chicken crescent rolls are done?

You'll know this dish is done cooking when the tops are golden brown, not when the bottoms are. The tops of the rolls are exposed to air and cook normally, but the bottoms will be soft, with a doughier, dumpling-like texture (even though they're fully cooked!) because they're cooking in the gravy.

    How do I store leftovers?

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, add it to an oven-safe baking dish and bake at 350°F for 10 minutes or until heated through.

    💭 Expert Tips

    • If you're sensitive to salt, use a low-sodium chicken broth and low-sodium cream of chicken soup.
    • Preparing your chicken crescent roll-ups on a cookie sheet is the easiest method to keep the dough from sticking to the surface. You can use the countertop, a cutting board, or another serving tray instead if they're non-stick, or you spray them with cooking spray first.
